For more that fifteen years, Mark Randall has been principal of Worldstudio, the New York City marketing and design agency that has worked with clients ranging from Adobe Systems, Inc., Reed Elsevier and The City of New York to the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, True Majority and The Metropolitan Opera. Worldstudio’s unique area of expertise is in creating and implementing programs and projects for corporate clients that support their social responsibility platforms.
Worldstudio has won leading industry awards and been featured in books on graphic design such as Conscientious Objectives: Designing for an Ethical Message and Citizen Designer: Perspectives on Design Responsibility, and in publications such as Communication Arts, Metropolis, Graphics International and Eye. Mark and Worldstudio have been twice selected for the prestigious “ID Forty” award, an annual listing of leading innovators in the design industry chosen by ID: The Magazine of International Design.
Worldstudio’s for-profit focus on socially responsible marketing is mirrored in its synergistic relationship with Worldstudio Foundation, a nonprofit organization which offers scholarships and mentoring programs in the fine and applied arts. Mark is president of the foundation, the first nonprofit in the U.S. devoted exclusively to encouraging social responsibility in the design and arts professions.
Formerly at Vignelli Associates, the internationally renowned graphics studio, Mark was project manager for the redesign of Fodor’s Travel Guides. He was also a designer for the environmental graphics firm, Whitehouse and Katz.
Mark lectures on design and social responsibility at colleges and universities and at industry conferences such as AIGA, HOW and The Designers Accord. Mark has taught at Parson’s School of Design and Fordham University in New York City and at Hartford University, Connecticut. He recently served on the national board of AIGA, the professional association for design. Mark graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle with a B.F.A. in graphic design.
